Comparing SMS providers
A provider choice turns on things you can check before you sign: which networks they reach, whether sender rules are published, which protocols they run, and how a message's outcome is reported back to you. The table below gives what we publish for each of those, with a link to the page that carries it, and the question to put to any other provider.
We quote no competitor figures on this page. Where a provider differs, the question in the last column is how to find out, and their answer is theirs to give.
| What decides it | What World Text publishes | Where | Ask any other provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Destination coverage | 204 destination countries and 1,958 network entries, each listed with its MCC and MNC. | Coverage | Which networks do you route to in each country, and can I see the MCC and MNC for every one? |
| Sender rules by country | Per country: whether sender ID registration is required, whether opt-out is mandatory, whether two-way works, and which topics are prohibited. | SMS restrictions | Where are your sender ID, opt-out and content rules published, country by country? |
| Connection methods | HTTP REST API, SMPP v3.3 and v3.4, email to SMS, and inbound message delivery over a number. | SMS API | Do you run the SMPP connection yourself, or pass it to another gateway? |
| Sender types | Alphanumeric sender IDs, reply-capable virtual numbers, short codes, SIM hosting, and 10DLC or toll-free numbers for US traffic. | Sender types | Which sender types can I use in my country, and who registers them? |
| Delivery receipts | A documented final state for every message: DELIVRD, EXPIRED, REJECTD, UNDELIV or ACCEPTD, with the error code where the network gives one. | Message states | What states can a message end in, and do I get a receipt and an error code for each? |
| Price per destination | Credits per single-part message for every listed country, published before you buy, with a calculator for credit bundles. | Pricing | Can I see a per-destination price list without a sales call? |
| API documentation | A server-rendered reference for every operation and schema, and a published OpenAPI specification. | Developer reference | Is the API reference public, and is there a machine-readable specification? |
| Who runs the platform | Our own SMSC and application platform, built and run in-house rather than resold. | Company | Do you operate the platform, or resell another provider's? |
| Account base | 28,363 active accounts, 15,497 of them ten years or more, as at 7 November 2026. | UK messaging | How many active accounts do you have, and how long have they been with you? |
What this page does not do
It does not rank providers, and it does not quote their prices. Delivery rates and support response times are also left out until we have measured our own, so nothing here is a claim we cannot point at. Where a decision depends on a number we do not publish, ask both providers for the same number and compare like with like.
Moving from another provider is covered in SMPP compared with the HTTP API , and the 10DLC and toll-free comparison covers the US registration route.
