Does WorldText support SMS to US numbers?
Yes. WorldText sends application-to-person (A2P) SMS to numbers in the United States over registered 10DLC and text-enabled toll-free numbers. We support transactional and two-way messaging, brand and campaign registration across US carriers, delivery receipts and outbound and inbound messaging over HTTP and SMPP. US destinations are listed on our coverage page at 8 credits per message.
The US messaging market is not like most others
Sending A2P SMS in the United States means working inside a regulated ecosystem rather than simply dialling a number. US carriers require application-to-person traffic to identify itself. Bulk and high-volume senders must register their brand and campaigns through The Campaign Registry (TCR), the industry body that administers 10DLC, and toll-free numbers must be verified before they can carry A2P traffic. Those registrations exist to control spam and to give carriers a basis for filtering, and the outcome for senders is that registration and consent are not optional extras.
For the sender, the practical consequences are real: allow lead time before launch, choose the sender type that matches the traffic you actually send, plan opt-in and opt-out handling, and test on real numbers before going live. A US messaging deployment that ignores registration typically ends in filtered or blocked traffic, which looks indistinguishable from a network fault.
- 10DLC is the mainstream route for business text messaging on US numbers.
- Toll-free numbers are text-enabled and must be verified before A2P use.
- Trust scores and campaign vetting affect throughput across carriers.
- Consent, opt-out handling and message frequency rules apply to every campaign.
What WorldText handles for US senders
WorldText is a specialist messaging provider rather than a campaign tool, and the US offering is built around that. We provision the sender types US senders actually use, work through the registrations those senders require, and expose the whole thing through the interfaces your systems already speak.
- 10DLC numbers and brand and campaign registration support.
- Text-enabled toll-free numbers with verification support.
- Transactional and two-way messaging, including replies delivered back to you.
- HTTP API, webhooks, delivery receipts and SMPP access.
- Destination-based pricing you can see on our [pricing page](/pricing/), with US SMS at 8 credits.
Choosing the right US sender type
The decision matters more than the wording suggests. Registered 10DLC numbers support two-way conversations, appear as a local 10-digit number and scale with trust score. Toll-free numbers are verified for A2P, support two-way traffic and suit higher-volume or mixed-use messaging, but recipients see a toll-free number rather than a local one. Short codes exist for dedicated high-volume campaigns and remain expensive relative to both.
The honest answer depends on your traffic profile. Our 10DLC vs Toll-Free guide walks through the trade-offs so you can choose rather than guess.
Getting started with US messaging
Registration and compliance are the parts that take time, so start there. Create an account, tell us about your use case, and we will progress the required registrations while you build against the sandboxed and documented API. Test messaging before launch is available through the portal, and delivery receipts let you verify real-world delivery rather than assume it.

API-first access
One documented HTTP API for US messaging, with callbacks, receipts and encoding control.
Frequently asked questions
Do US recipients see my company name as the sender?
Normally no. US A2P runs over numeric senders: a registered 10DLC number or a text-enabled toll-free number. Alphanumeric sender IDs are not generally supported to US numbers, which is why US campaigns use numbers rather than brand names.
Do I need 10DLC registration for transactional SMS?
Transactional messages count as A2P traffic when they come from an application on a 10-digit number, so in practice 10DLC brand and campaign registration is required and should be in place before launch. See our 10DLC page for the detail.
How long does US registration take?
It varies. Brand vetting can complete in hours to days; campaign vetting and carrier sync can take longer, and secondary vetting or re-vetting can add time. Plan for days rather than hours, and start before your launch date.
Can US recipients reply to messages?
Yes. Both registered 10DLC numbers and verified toll-free numbers can receive replies, and WorldText delivers those replies back over HTTP webhook, SMPP or email depending on your setup.
Where can I check US pricing?
Our pricing page shows destination-based credit rates and a live calculator. US destinations are priced at 8 credits per single-part message, with credit bundles purchased in GBP including VAT.
