Auto Responder Configuration

The Auto Responder can be found and configured here.

The World Text Auto Responder is used to process inbound SMS and perform actions based on the rules you have specified. For dedicated inbound numbers in addition to the default of 'catch all', you may also use keywords with different actions performed for each.

Forwarding SMS

Forwarding uses your chosen method to pass inbound SMS to you immediately and automatically upon receipt by our platform from the originating network.

Email

Forwarding by email will send inbound SMS to your specified email address.

Configuration
  • Destination Email - Enter the email address for inbound SMS to be sent to.
  • Use Keyword / #Hashtags - (Dedicated numbers only) If your message starts with your chosen keyword, or contains anywhere in the message, any number of your specified #Hashtags, these will be used to apply your rules.

HTTP/S

Forwarding by HTTP/S will send inbound SMS to your URL. There is a built in automatic retry process, in the event that your URL does not respond three attempts will be made to pass the inbound SMS.

Configuration
  • Primary Destination URL - Enter the URL for inbound SMS to be sent to in either HTTP or HTTPS format.
  • Call Type: GET - The optional method for forwarding HTTP/S to your URL.
  • Call Type: POST - The default method for forwarding HTTP/S to your URL.
  • Failover - You may specify a failover URL that will be used in the event that your primary URL fails to respond to all three attempts. The failover URL cannot be the same as your primary URL AND the failover URL MUST be the same scheme (i.e. HTTP/HTTPS).
  • Send As Binary - Inbound SMS will be sent to your URL in binary format
  • Send Passcode - Inbound SMS will be sent to your URL including a passcode specified by you
  • SMS Reply - An SMS will be sent to the sender of the inbound SMS using text content displayed by your web page. No further HTTP call, encoding or parameters are required. Standard plain text ASCII content only, no special characters - please see here.
  • Use Keyword / #Hashtags - (Dedicated numbers only) If your message starts with your chosen keyword, or contains anywhere in the message, any number of your specified #Hashtags, these will be used to apply your rules.
  • Warning Email - Should your URL fail to respond we will send a warning to your primary email address, this is normally the same as was used to setup your account but can be changed by contacting us.

SMS

Forwarding by SMS will send inbound SMS to your specified mobile / cell numbers.

Please note, forwarding inbound SMS by this method is chargeable, if you do not have enough credit on your account forwarding will not be carried out.

Configuration
  • Destination Mobile - Enter the mobile / cell numbers inbound SMS to be forwarded to, this must be in international format (ex. a UK number of 07590 123456 should be entered as 447590123456, where 44 is the country code for the UK. Multiple numbers should be separated using a comma.
  • Fixed Source - Use this option to specify a fixed source address which is used for all forwarded SMS. Otherwise the source address will by dynamically set to that of the inbound SMS sender. Both these options are subject to local restrictions in place and source address overwriting be effected to ensure delivery.
  • Use Keyword / #Hashtags - (Dedicated numbers only) If your message starts with your chosen keyword, or contains anywhere in the message, any number of your specified #Hashtags, these will be used to apply your rules.
  • Warning Email - Should your account be unable to forward by SMS we will send a warning to your primary email address, this is normally the same as was used to setup your account but can be changed by contacting us.

Ignore

Ignore will use source addresses specified to filter (ignore) inbound SMS and not pass through using your chosen method.

Configuration
  • Source Address - Enter the source addresses you want to filter (ignore), you may enter numeric and alphanumeric source addresses (ex. 447590123456,ACompany,62404 etc.). Multiple entries should be separated by a comma.

Opt-in / Opt-out of Groups

Automatically add users to your groups by.

Please note, replying with an SMS is chargeable, if you do not have enough credit on your account replies will not be sent.

Configuration - Opt-In To Group
  • Keyword - This is required and is the trigger keyword used by subscribers to opt-in to a group.
  • Select Group - Choose the group that the subscriber will be opted-in to.
  • Auto Reply - The message specified here is that which will be sent as an SMS reply to the user subscribing. This is an important part of best practice and remaining compliant with legislation. We recommend that you include what they have subscribed to and how frequently they will be contacted.
  • Source Address - Choose the source address that the SMS replies will use. If one is not selected your account's default source address will be used.
Configuration - Opt-Out Of Group
  • Use Keyword / #Hashtags - (Dedicated numbers only) Your message must start with your chosen keyword, or contains anywhere in the message, any number of your specified #Hashtags, these will be used to apply your rules.
  • Select Group - Choose the group that the subscriber will be opted-out of.
  • Auto Reply - The message specified here is that which will be sent as an SMS reply to the user un-subscribing. This is an important part of best practice and remaining compliant with legislation. We recommend that you include what they have un-subscribed from and that they will no longer be contacted.
  • Source Address - Choose the source address that the SMS replies will use. If one is not selected your account's default source address will be used.

Reply

Respond automatically with an SMS to the sender of inbound SMS using static pre-defined text.

Please note, replying with an SMS is chargeable, if you do not have enough credit on your account replies will not be sent.

Configuration
  • Auto Reply Text - The message specified here is that which will be sent in the SMS reply. A single part SMS is 160 characters, messages beyond this length will incur additional SMS costs.
  • Format - The reply text 'printed to the screen' for your reply should be plain text, not HTML.
  • Use Keyword / #Hashtags - (Dedicated numbers only) If your message starts with your chosen keyword, or contains anywhere in the message, any number of your specified #Hashtags, these will be used to apply your rules.
  • Source Address - Choose the source address that SMS replies will be sent using. If one is not selected your account's default source address will be used.
