SMS Virtual Mobile Numbers
Virtual Mobile numbers (sometimes known as long numbers, or long codes) are the perfect way to have two-way communication with your customers.
Unlike an SMS text to a short code, a text to a virtual sms number is a standard rate message, so is often covered by any bundled texts.
Virtual sms numbers are provided by networks and appear to be regular mobile numbers, however all these numbers are capable of is receiving SMS text messages.
A virtual mobile number can be stored in the handset phonebook just like a normal number.
The virtual mobile numbers only exist within the database of the network that provides them. When a text message is sent to one of these virtual numbers the network forwards it to one of our application servers, from there the incoming message is either processed or delivered to the client.
For more information about our Two-Way and inbound services, including inbound revenue sharing please see our two way guide.
Incoming Messages can be processed for you using our Auto Responder service, this includes optionally delivering to your application by email or HTTP, or delivered straight to your application using SMPP.
