SMS Paging System

Our paging system is responsible for message distribution from authorised handsets to multiple destinations using a key word command.

How It Works

  • The Paging System enables text-paging by taking a text message sent from an authorised mobile phone and distributing it to multiple handsets, one more more times.
  • The SMS Paging System is a web managed application that allows SMS messages to be sent from one mobile phone handset to multiple handsets, simply by using one word. The trigger word, typically known as a keyword, is sent to a specific mobile number which then processes the distribution of messages to the recipients.
  • Multiple SMS paging alerts can be created just by using different keywords. Each alert must specify the message (that is sent to the recipients) and a keyword (the word used to recognise and trigger the alert). Unlimited recipients can be added to each alert created. Alerts (messages) are sent to the recipients, 1 or more times, at configurable intervals.

How Did It All Start?

World-Text's SMS paging system was originally developed as part of a sponsorship deal with Caister Lifeboat in Norfolk, on the basis of the success at Caister, Blyth Volunteer Lifeboat also adopted the SMS system. As well as being the sole provider of SMS paging services to the two of over fifty independantly run lifeboats in the United Kingdom, World-Text's paging system is also actively used by a number of mountain rescue teams.
