Source Address Information & Charges

The Source Address of an SMS identifies who sent the message. On the image to the right the source address is SMSAlert.
A source address can be one of the following:
- A Short Code
This is a short number, these are often associated with premium rate services, this type of source address typically can not be replied too, we do not supply or support any short codes. -
An Alphanumeric
This is a text string, e.g. World-Text, these can be a maximum of 11 characters in size. We can provide any required alphanumeric source address subject to charges and proof of ownership of the branding. - A World-Text MSISDN
This is a regular mobile telephone number that is allocated by World-Text, e.g. 07781486110, the typical use of a MSISDN source address is to allow two-way routing of messages (receiving replies). -
A NON World-Text MSISDN
This is a regular mobile telephone number that has not been allocated by World-Text and resides on another network, we do support this type of source address, however due to the restricted range of networks this can be sent over, each message sent using one of these source addresses has to be sent using our Open Source Address service described below.
Additional Source Addresses
We are happy to provide additional source addresses to customers free of charge. All customers are required to apply for their source address.
These source addresses must be requested at least 48 hours in advance of commencement of service and take usually 10 days to be fully set up.
